Can I use a pci-e x1 to x16 adapter to run dual video cards?
So they make those x1 to x16 adapters. Since I only have one x16 slot and an open x1 slot, I was wondering if I could run dual gpu's with crossfire using the adapter. I know that it's run at the x1 bus speed, but it'd still be a big improvement over one video card, right?
no and no...........thats as simple as i can put it ;0)
you need a compatible mobo/chipset to run crossfire even if you could do it the both cards would default to pci x1 and that really would be a bit sh!t ;0)
yuo could always get the 4870 x2 ATI card if your that bothered , make sure your psu is up to the task though
