what is the difference between handycam or camcorder?which is the best company sony or canon for these? If I take it then can I take still pictures in it?If yes then can I give memory card for snaps to shopkeeper for washing?If i can take still picture then what will be the difference between digital camera,handycam & camcorder?In handycam or camcorder how much pictures will stored means what will be the capacity?plz dont say this is wrong category,if u know the answer then plz give.
can I make good quality still images in the camcorder like digital camera? I have digital camera so should I go for camcorder if I want still images & videos?

Generally there is no difference between handycam and camcorder. Basically, Handycam is a product name from Sony. Much like how ‘Walkman’ from Sony became synonymous to portable/personal cassete players. So technically Handycam is a brand and is a camcorder in essence. Both Sony and Canon are good manufacturers and either one should do. Nowadays, camcorders, or rather digital camcorders, either DV or hard drive recorders can capture stills, and they are becoming good in capturing stills as digital cameras. Camcorders are primarily for capturing videos, while digital cameras are primarily for capturing stills. Storage is a big difference between the two. Digital cameras have smaller storage capacity compared to camcorders, but the quality of capturing still images are better than camcorders.

So, it actually boils down to your preference. Are you going to use the device more for capturing videos, or stills? Brand names are both good, so it still falls under your preference. I hope this helps you out in your question.
